Description Summary

The Building 3 Process Engineer will analyze, design, and optimize production processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in a cGMP environment and support plant operational goals.

Customer Focused

  • Understand customer requirements and integrate them into operations
  • Provide exceptional process information and details to meet customer needs
  • Collaborate with EHS, Quality, Maintenance, Logistics, Planning, and Technical Sales Engineering and Project Engineering to deliver the manufacturing plan
  • Work with the Building 3 Plant Manager and operations team to meet revenue targets

CPS Focused

  • Ensure all processes comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
  • Ensure Building 3 operations are cGMP compliant at all times
  • Prepare new Job Jackets (batch records) for commercial products and maintain templates for existing commercial products
  • Develop and implement new or modified production processes, equipment, and workflows
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities in productivity, cost reduction, and quality through analysis of existing manufacturing processes
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to troubleshoot process-related issues
  • Lead or participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for process deviations, customer complaints, or product quality concerns
  • Maintain accuracy of production elements of management information systems including financial reporting and ERP systems
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
  • Support the commissioning, qualification, and validation of new equipment and processes
  • Support Plant Manager in maintaining accuracy of production elements of management information systems including financial reporting and ERP systems
  • Share knowledge and expertise with Process Engineers in other business units and Technical Sales Engineers to improve teamwork and collaboration
  • Act as deputy to the Building 3 Plant Manager during vacation periods or other absences

People Focused

  • Provide technical training and support to production personnel
  • Develop new training tools for use in the business unit
  • Provide a culture of engagement for all employees within the business unit

Other Key Roles

  • Act as deputy to the Building 3 Plant Manager during vacation periods or other absences
  • Share knowledge and expertise with Process Engineers in other business units and Technical Sales Engineers to improve teamwork and collaboration
  • Perform any other related duties as identified by Senior Leadership

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting (experience in cGMP (food or excipient) manufacturing is a plus)
  • Experience with cGMP bottling lines and/or extraction equipment is a plus
  • Champion and embody CPS Core Values
  • Strong knowledge of process design, optimization, and control
  • Proficiency in process simulation software and data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, Excel, SPC)
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement frameworks
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements relevant to the manufacturing industry
  • Willingness to accept the demands of a 24/7 manufacturing operation
  • Ability to multitask and establish priorities in an environment of competing expectations
  • Willingness to continue education and personal development for the purposes of staying up to date with industry, technology, and regulatory requirements
  • Desire to be a change agent, not getting discouraged, but persevering through times of conflict
  • Flexible and open-minded to change while at the same time being able to hold an unwavering position
  • Ability to analyze data, look for trends, and draw conclusions for said data

Reading Campus (primary work location) – 98% of time
East Greenville Campus (secondary location) – 2% of time

Work Hours

Regular exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures
Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting
May require occasional off-shift or weekend work to support production or projects
