Process Engineer

About the role

At National Machinery, a world-class middle market company that designs and manufactures cold forming machinery, you will be part of the Process Engineering team. Your primary responsibility is to determine the path for engineered components and assemblies to be manufactured or procured, focusing on quality, capability, efficiency, delivery, and cost.

Responsibilities

• Determine operations, activities, fixturing, tools, and equipment required for fabrication, assembly, machining, or outsourcing of components and assemblies from parts drawings, specifications, and other engineering materials.
• Create routings and prepare operational work instructions.
• Plan the sequence of operations, forecast standard time requirements, and review internal manufacturing costs to ensure they align with product and manufacturing techniques.
• Work closely with the inspection department to ensure purchased parts meet quality and print specifications. Communicate with vendors and engineering teams regarding deviations and their disposition.
• Utilize ERP systems to plan and coordinate routing activities for each component or assembly.
• Read blueprints with a thorough understanding of GD&T and its application.
• Communicate accurately planned operations and work instructions within the organization.
• Utilize Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, PPT) proficiently.
• Show strong verbal and written communication skills.

Requirements

• A minimum of an associate's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or equivalent experience.
• In-depth knowledge of machining and fabrication processes, tooling, techniques, and estimating.
• Ability to promote safety and maintain a safe work environment.
• Experience working in a team environment and as an individual contributor with little supervision.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and understanding GD&T.
• Experience with Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, PPT).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Pay

$59,000 - $72,000 per year

Schedule

Full-time, In-person/On-site position located in Tiffin, Ohio.

• Technical knowledge of National Machinery products, equipment, and processes.
• Experience with SolidWorks 3D software or equivalent software.
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis.

• Experience with fixture and jig design.
• Experience with Mastercam software.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Office and shop environment. Steel-toed safety shoes and safety glasses are required.
