About the role

This position reports directly to the Process Engineering Supervisor and is responsible for general and specific job duties within IAC.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cross-functional job assignments in all areas of the assigned department per established procedures.

  • Maintain cleanliness in assigned work areas according to 5S standards.
  • Maintain proper radio etiquette and professionalism when representing the company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Specific Duties

  • Initiate machine processes, make adjustments within process tolerance, and recommend changes for improved efficiencies.
  • Monitor all processes related to machinery (Jenoptik laser cutting, Urethane (soft foam molding), Waterjet, Vacform, Vibration welders, secondary equipment, punch press, paint line, Fanuc and ABB robotics, sonic welder, etc.) to ensure optimal efficiency.
  • Participate in analyzing and resolving process, equipment, and tool issues.
  • Assist in the setup and start-up of new tools, equipment, and resins for trials.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of equipment, including waterjet, vacform, vibration welders, secondary equipment, punch press, paint line, robotics, and sonic welder.
  • Assist machine operators in troubleshooting as required.
  • Monitor product for acceptable quality and current specifications.
  • Ensure process parameters are followed and troubleshoot engineering/equipment-related issues for the entire facility.
  • Work with limited supervision and maintain cooperation among and between shifts and departments.
  • Train and oversee Process Technicians on each shift.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in engineering, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with processing, excellent computer and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Experience with urethane and robotics is preferred.

Training

This position may require travel to other facilities or training locations, as well as on-site training as needed.

PPE Requirements

This position requires the use of eye protection, hearing protection, and any PPE specific to the task being performed.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand on feet for 8-12 hours a day.
  • Lift up to 75 lbs occasionally and 40 lbs regularly.
  • Perform overhead work and work below the waist.
