Responsibilities
- Perform inspection procedures on all assigned lines according to established standards.
- Mark and tag defects in product following established guidelines.
- Collect data from Production and complete necessary paperwork.
- Support compliance with product specifications and notify Production of potential defects or issues.
- Perform process inspections on a wide range of products and process checks on all production lines.
- Check for standardized sanitation procedures, bag weight, and defects.
- Calibrate measuring equipment as required.
- Work on a moving conveyor belt using both hands; spread or style product by hand.
- Perform multiple types of packing and weighing.
- Pull bones from product; inspect, grade, and remove product that does not meet standards.
- Participate as a team member in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
- Attend team meetings and foster cohesiveness on major issues such as direction, annual plan, budget, and policy changes.
- Identify areas lacking cohesiveness and work with the team leader to resolve issues.
- Maintain familiarity with Simmons’ operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN).
- Communicate concerns and improvement ideas related to operating systems.
- Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
Requirements
- 6 months to one year of prior production experience; preference for poultry or food processing industry.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Perform basic math calculations.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Activities
- Stand on feet for entire shift.
- Lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to waist level for weight checks.
- Work in a wet, cold, noisy, and dusty environment; walking surfaces may be slippery.
- Perform repetitive motion and rotate through cold and hot areas of the plant.
- Move, push, or pull up to 55 pounds from table to scales at waist level.
- Bend, stoop, walk, and stand for entire shift.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Standard waterproof gloves and sleeves.
- Hearing protection.
- Slip-resistant footwear.
