Process Characterization Technician
Role and Responsibilities
- Execute process characterization experiments and engineering trials following defined procedures and protocols.
- Collect, organize, and analyze process and inspection/metrology data to support engineering evaluations.
- Perform defect inspection and characterization using microscopy, metrology tools and analytical equipment.
- Support statistical process control monitoring and assist in identifying process excursions or abnormal trends.
- Document experiment results, observations, and process changes in engineering reports and tracking databases.
- Afford assistance in root cause investigations for process deviations, yield issues, and equipment related concerns.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality and operational procedures in manufacturing environments.
Skills and Experience
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience in semiconductor, advanced manufacturing or high-tech production environments.
- Experience supporting engineering characterization or NPI activities.
- Understanding of DOE (Design of experiments) methodologies.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and documentation.
- Effective verbal and written communication ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Technical aptitude and willingness to learn new tools and processes.
- Basic computer proficiency including excel, data tracking systems and reporting tools.
- Experience operation or analyzing data from SEM tools is a strong plus.
- Ability to work in manufacturing environment for extended periods.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing.
- Must have manual dexterity in order to assemble products as directed.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
