About the Role

This position is responsible for coding and entering into the EMR procedures, infusion, pathology, and professional charges for US Digestive Health.

Responsibilities

  • Code and enter charges within 48 hours from date of service.
  • Review physician documentation to assign accurate CPT and ICD-10 codes for services rendered.
  • Enter charges into the practice management system.
  • Research edits or holds placed on claims due to coding issues.
  • Stay current with billing, coding, and insurance guidelines.
  • Field coding and billing questions from coworkers and patients.
  • Review daily facility and departmental communications, including emails.
  • Participate in Clinical Quality measures, ensuring compliance with documentation requirements in the Ambulatory Medical Record (AMR).
  • Utilize the AMR system effectively and in accordance with facility guidelines.

Requirements

  • Coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in physician coding.

Skills

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of outpatient CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding, as well as medical terminology.
  • Understanding of the legal aspects of medical billing and documentation requirements.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Competency in electronic health record and billing systems.
  • Professional appearance and courteous demeanor with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Patient-focused attitude with a commitment to excellent service.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and promote teamwork.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday.
