This role is onsite in Palm Beach Gardens at a long-standing law firm with over 100 years of operations specializing in trusts and estates.
Responsibilities
- Prepare pleadings initiating an estate or guardianship court proceeding
- Monitor and maintain files for estate administration, trust administration, and guardianship
- Review estate planning, will, and trust documents
- Prepare trust administration documents (e.g., acceptances of trustees, resignations, and declinations of trustees)
- Prepare trust and estate accounting
- Draft memorandums and correspondence
- Manage communication among attorneys, clients, beneficiaries, and family members
- Monitor trust and estate accounts, including payment of monthly expenses
- Research asset and debt information for trusts and estates
- Prepare deeds, transfer of vehicles, brokerage accounts, and cash distributions for asset transfers to beneficiaries
- Assemble necessary documents for trust and estate administration tax returns (e.g., estate tax, income tax, and gift tax returns)
- Collaborate on preparation of tax returns
- Conduct estate and guardianship legal research pertaining to issues
- Locate beneficiaries of trust or estate, when necessary
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a paralegal or Tax Fiduciary Accountant
- Experience with probate and trust accounting practices
- Strong knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Pay
Annual salary between $75,000 and $95,000 based on experience.
