Probate & Estate Planning Attorney (Hybrid) (Full-Time Engagement)
Latitude is seeking an experienced Probate & Estate Planning Attorney for a full-time, long-term law firm engagement with an established Indianapolis-area firm. This is an immediate opportunity for an experienced attorney to step into an active practice and take ownership of a significant existing caseload involving probate administration, wills, trusts, and estate planning matters.
About the role
The successful lawyer will be able to hit the ground running, independently manage matters with minimal supervision, and provide responsive, practical counsel to clients navigating probate and estate matters. The firm strongly prefers an attorney who can work on a hybrid basis from its Indianapolis-area office, although fully remote/WFH candidates may be considered for an exceptionally strong candidate with significant Indiana probate and estate experience. This is expected to be a long-term contract attorney engagement, with the potential to convert to a permanent position for the right candidate upon mutual agreement.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant legal experience, with significant experience handling probate, estate administration, wills, trusts, and/or estate planning matters
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage probate and estate matters from intake through completion
- Substantive knowledge of Indiana probate procedures, including preparation and e-filing of probate-related pleadings and other court documents
- Ability to assume responsibility for an existing caseload and become productive with minimal ramp-up or supervision
- Strong client counseling skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals and families regarding sensitive estate and probate matters
- Experience handling uncontested probate matters; experience with contested probate matters is a plus
- Experience with real estate transactions or other real estate matters is a plus
- Excellent academic credentials from an ABA-accredited law school
- Excellent analytical, written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Active license to practice law in Indiana
- Outstanding professional references
Responsibilities
- Assume and independently manage an active portfolio of probate and estate matters, with primary emphasis on probate administration, wills, and estate planning. Most probate matters are uncontested and handled through Indiana’s e-filing system, although occasional court appearances and travel within Indiana may be required for contested or other matters requiring an attorney’s physical presence.
- Candidates with complementary real estate experience may also have the opportunity to support the firm’s longstanding real estate clients and related transactional matters.
Schedule
- Full-time
- Long-term engagement, with potential conversion to a permanent position for the right candidate upon mutual agreement
- Hybrid preferred, with approximately 2–3 days per week on-site at the firm’s Indianapolis-area office and the balance remote/WFH. Fully remote arrangements may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.

Pay
The annualized pay for this position ranges from $125,000 to $175,000 or more when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference.
