PRN Unarmed Security Officer

About the role

Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is seeking an Unarmed Security Officer to join our team. This role involves night shifts from 5:30 PM to 6:00 AM, with a requirement for two weekends per month.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the internal/external premises while maintaining a high degree of courtesy and good judgment in dealing with the public.
• Maintain high tact and diplomacy.
• Communicate with the public in a clear and concise manner.
• Provide physical restraint against those who endanger caregivers, patients and visitors.
• Provide escort to personnel as appropriate.
• Apply restraining techniques, as required, to maintain safety and order within the hospital environment.
• Report on safety, security and/or fire hazards.
• Recognize and make recommendations on safety violations and hazards.
• Demonstrate knowledge of fire control warning systems, evacuation routes and procedures.
• Respond to requests for assistance from clinic personnel, patients, and visitors promptly.

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License (VDL) and maintain requirements for possession of a valid Florida driver's license
• State of Florida Class D License
• Good oral, written communication, interpersonal and analytical skills sufficient to document investigative activities
• Ability to maintain a prominent level of confidentiality

Qualifications

• A minimum of two weekends per month will be required.

Skills

• Chauffeur license
• Two years of experience
• Military and/or hospital experience

Physical Requirements

• Demonstrates ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing, walking and/or operating a motor vehicle.
• Frequent talking and listening when directing or investigating concerns/incidents.
• Frequent use of the phone, computer, fax machine and company vehicles.
• Working Conditions: The majority of the time the employee will spend commuting between and in the clinical buildings. Potential exposure to blood and blood borne pathogens is minimal while performing inquisitions and interviews. Exposure to chemicals during the course of an investigation may require the use of personal protective equipment.
