PRN Sr. Medical Dosimetrist

Qualifications

• Graduate of a formally organized hospital or college affiliated medical dosimetry program with clinical and classroom curriculum, and other training or experience as a medical dosimetrist.
• Possesses a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree with a major in the physical or biological sciences.
• Possesses an Associate of Science, Bachelor of Arts, or Bachelor of Science degree in a field other than physical or biological science.
• Completion of two or more years of on-the-job training and work experience in medical dosimetry under the supervision of a Certified Medical Dosimetrist or Medical Physicist.
• Completion of on-the-job training in medical dosimetry under the supervision of a Certified Medical Dosimetrist or Medical Physicist and subsequent minimum of 4 years of supervised work experience in medical dosimetry.
• Complies with existing national and state laws and institutional policies related to qualifications required to practice medical dosimetry in Colorado.

Skills

• Understands the technical aspects of radiation oncology and medical physics to derive computerized treatment plans.
• Communicates derived treatment plans to the Radiation Oncologist for plan revision and approval and to the Radiation Therapist for plan implementation.
• Operates and performs quality assurance on the treatment planning computer under the direction of the Medical Physicist.
• Interprets and executes treatment plans as defined in relevant treatment protocols.
• Possesses mathematical skills and knowledge including algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and introductory calculus.
• Visualizes three-dimensional concepts to facilitate the treatment planning process.

Experience

• 20+ years' experience in related field.
