PRN RN – Pediatric Emergency Department (ED)

About the Role

Join Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital, a proud Magnet Hospital awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, recognized for excellence in professional nursing practice. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pediatric Emergency Department, you will work alongside a dedicated team providing specialized pediatric care in a child-friendly environment. The department is staffed 24/7 with board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians and nurses certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and pediatric trauma care. The unit includes a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) team and Child Life Specialists to support children and families during care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Record and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Serve as a primary coordinator for well-coordinated patient care across disciplines.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience.
• Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience may be considered post-orientation with Chief Nursing Officer approval.
• Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the AHA or American Red Cross.
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) upon hire or within 24 months of beginning work in the Emergency Department.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the AHA or American Red Cross within one year of hire.
• Military RN experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

• Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay

Pay range for new hires: $43.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental, vision, retirement contributions).

Schedule

PRN (as needed) with variable shifts, including one weekend within a six-week period and two holidays per year.
