Cleveland Clinic Florida pediatricians provide comprehensive, compassionate children’s health care services focused on the health and well-being of our youngest patients. Our team supports every stage of a child’s development, from infancy through early adulthood. As an RN on the Pediatrics team, you will provide direct nursing care, acting as both an educator and advocate. You will also cross-train to provide coverage for other ambulatory departments within St. Lucie West.

Schedule

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. with on-call, weekend, and holiday rotation requirements. Must be able to float to South MOB and Treasure Coast Pavilion to support staffing needs.

Responsibilities

• Assess health status by completing a nursing assessment.
• Perform telephone triage.
• Notify physicians/LIPs of abnormal findings.
• Establish a care plan in collaboration with the patient, family, and health care team.
• Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care.
• Assist with specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physician/LIP and monitor patients for response.
• Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
• Provide health education to patients and families.
• Develop, evaluate, adapt, and document education to learning needs.
• Participate in quality initiatives, process improvements, and research activities to improve patient outcomes, patient experience, and patient safety.
• Maintain professional growth and development in the nursing field and identify annual core competencies.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.
• One year of recent experience as an RN.
• Will consider LPN, Medical Assistant, and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience in substitution of RN experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Pediatric experience.

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
• May require some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
• Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
