About the role
A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 7:30AM – 7:00PM. This role is a Monday through Friday possibility, but completely flexible on what a caregiver is willing to pick up. They do not need to cover the early shift (7AM) and they are NOT required to take call. Shifts are typically 4-8 hours.
Responsibilities
- Determine and deliver appropriate patient treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and dosimetrists.
- Monitor and document patient's condition and report any adverse reactions.
- Assess and educate patients according to specific department protocols.
- Position patients and select anatomic/technical parameters accurately.
- Check and adjust necessary equipment, including linear accelerators.
Requirements
- Graduate of a CAHEA approved School of Radiation Therapy technology or registry eligible
- Registered Radiation Therapist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), R.T.(R)(T)(ARRT) in good standing
- Current state licensure as a Radiation Therapist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- Experience with radiation oncology specific electronic medical records as well as record and verify
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Can communicate and relate well with patients who are under physical and emotional stress
- Can utilize computer programs to input database and capture information
Qualifications
- Experience with external radiation therapy, IMRT, IGRT and CT simulation (preferred)
Physical Requirements
- Requires ability to perform duties while walking, standing, stooping, reaching and lifting.
- Requires ability to lift materials weighing up to 35 lbs.
- Requires ability to push/pull over 100 lbs to assist patients.
- Requires dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions.
- Requires Safe Operating Procedure for x-ray generating equipment.
- Requires ability to work the hours of operation – flexible.
