About the role

Our PET/CT technologists use exceptional communication skills to connect with patients, explain the procedure, and put them at ease. With a caring attitude and keen attention to detail, they ensure patient comfort, safety, and satisfaction every step of the way. They demonstrate technical competence by interpreting physician orders, selecting appropriate software options, and setting imaging parameters to produce high-quality PET/CT images—enabling accurate diagnosis and confident treatment. Techs work in diverse environments, including freestanding outpatient centers, mobile coaches, or hospital-based facilities, delivering top-tier imaging care at any access point.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient safety, including pre-screening for contraindications and using aseptic injection techniques.
  • Adhere to radiation safety regulations and proper documentation when working with radioactive materials.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and radiologists.
  • Train new technologists and/or patient care coordinators.
  • Troubleshoot scanners, mobile units, and peripheral equipment (e.g., monitors, PACS, coils).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Certification in Nuclear Medicine by the NMTCB or ARRT (N) required.
  • State license, as required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Valid state driver’s license, as applicable.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in Nuclear Medicine procedures and studies preferred.
  • Ability to work at multiple locations.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
  • Local travel may be required.
  • COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screen is required.

Physical Requirements

  • May be exposed to outside weather conditions (if working on a mobile unit).
  • Exposure to radioactive isotopes and ionizing radiation.
  • Potential exposure to radiation, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
  • More than 50% of the time: sitting, standing, walking, repetitive movement of hands/arms/legs, seeing, speaking, and hearing to communicate with patients.
  • Less than 50% of the time: stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, balancing, carrying, and lifting (including moving non-ambulatory patients).
