About the role

The Patient Care Technician III (PCT III) is a role dedicated to ensuring the patient has an exceptional patient care experience while in our center by meeting all patient needs. The PCT III will assist the technologist through smooth patient transitions and continuously engage with the patient on exam expectations and wait times.

Responsibilities

  • Assists patients with securing valuables and changing into proper attire for the examination.
  • If qualified, initiates IV for contrast studies and provide medical attention for contrast reactions under the guidance of the radiologist, monitors completion and retrieves lab values.
  • Has working knowledge of normal ranges to facilitate efficient notification to technologist/radiologist aiding in proper patient flow.
  • Prepares room and non-sterile trays as needed to assist technologists/radiologist.
  • Ensures safety procedures are followed at all times in all security zones of the Center.
  • Supports the technologists in preparing patients for the exam, helping patients on and off the imaging table, and escorting them back to the lobby or suitable waiting area.
  • Aids in obtaining, importing, and validating prior outside studies.
  • Prepares images and paperwork to be sent for interpretation.
  • Sends images through the PACS system to the appropriate location as needed.
  • Contacts referring provider office to obtain updated order and to clarify orders when needed.
  • Collaborates with the Patient Scheduling Coordinator when there is a change in exam/prep for the scheduled patient.

Requirements

  • One plus year of administrative experience in a healthcare environment – radiology preferred
  • Experience placing IV's is highly preferred, and able to provide medical attention for contrast reactions under the guidance of the radiologist
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, a problem solver and a team player
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer screens and browsers quickly and accurately
  • Ability to excel in a very fast-pace team environment
  • Continuous “exceed” company and customer expectation
  • Strong communication skills & professional demeanor

Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Continuing education preferred
  • Active CPR certification
  • Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, Paramedic, and/or EMT training is preferred
