PRN Patient Care Nurse Assistant – Surgical Medical Unit

South Pointe Hospital’s 9 Surgical Unit provides a wide range of surgical and post‑surgical services to adult patients. This 16‑bed unit is known for its family atmosphere and friendly, positive work environment where caregivers put their patients first.

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, including vital signs, weight, personal care, activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point‑of‑care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices, and removing urinary Foley catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within the new‑hire period.
• Nursing students must have prior to hire; students who have completed at least one clinical rotation may substitute the rotation for the required experience.
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered.
• Demonstrated competency in professional, technical, and clinical knowledge domains, performed safely and efficiently.
• Proficiency in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at a minimum junior‑high level.
• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification (preferred).
• Physical ability to perform full‑body motion, lift patients, stand and walk extensively; medium work exertion (20‑50 lb occasionally, 10‑25 lb frequently, up to 10 lb constantly).
• Ability to follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.

Pay

Minimum hourly: $20.75 Maximum hourly: $20.75. Compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set and education. Shift differentials, overtime and the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package are not included in this range.

Schedule

PRN (as needed) variable shifts.
