About the Role

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), adhering to the specific requirements of the department and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." The RN serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers while modeling the organization’s vision, mission, and values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate interventions.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers.
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate and proactively resolve patient needs.
  • Teach patients, families, and caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, translating complex medical terminology for complete understanding.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes.
  • Prepare patients and families for future self-management.

Requirements

  • Current (RN) Registered Nurse licensure.
  • One year of NICU experience required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
