Job Description

Performs tests on specimens to provide information for diagnosing and combating disease.

Qualifications

• Performs tests on specimens to provide information for diagnosing and combating disease.
• Works independently with moderate supervision from a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Supervisor or the Director of Laboratory Operations.
• May be assigned to work in specialized section within the department.
• Qualifies as a General Medical Laboratory Scientists under CLIA-88 by any of the following:
• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science,
• Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical technology program,
• Previously qualified or could have qualified as a generalist prior to 2/29/92 under 42 CFR 493.1427 (3/14/90)

Skills

• Verbal communication skills required to interact with other hospital personnel
• Writing skills and computer aptitude required to document test results and prepare reports of daily work
