PRN LPN – Med Surg

Lodi Hospital’s East Wing is considered a med/surg unit that can be used for swing, rehab, observation, and inpatient care. Caregivers in this unit wear multiple hats and are known for being a flexible, versatile and small team.

About the role

As an LPN, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional, top-quality care to a diverse patient population. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, all while enhancing your nursing skills through hands-on experience and numerous educational resources offered within the Cleveland Clinic system.

This position works PRN (as needed) variable night shifts from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. You must work 48 hours within a six-week period with weekends required.

Responsibilities

• Collect, document and report patient data and observations to the RN or authorized directing health care provider.
• Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.
• Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.
• Perform routine laboratory tests.
• Educate patients and family members.
• Participate in the departmental orientation of new employees in a positive manner, share knowledge, experiences, and provide guidance when assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Practical or Vocational Nursing Program
• Current Ohio licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
• Internal candidates must have a minimum of one year related nursing experience. External candidates must have a minimum of two years recent and related nursing experience.

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay

Pay Range Minimum hourly: $28.35
Maximum hourly: $28.35
