PRN Inpatient Psychiatrist

About the role

Seeking a PRN Inpatient Psychiatrist (MD/DO) to join a behavioral health team in a hospital setting. Ideal candidates are collaborative, patient-centered, and committed to providing high-quality psychiatric care within a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Providing inpatient psychiatric care on the Behavioral Health Inpatient (BHIP) unit
• Managing an average daily census of 8-12 patients both on-site and remotely
• Conducting psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, and medication management
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient outcomes
• Participating in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
• Delivering care in compliance with regulatory and clinical standards
• Supporting patient transitions and continuity of care

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program
• Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry
• Active or eligible Virginia medical license
• Current DEA license

Practice Environment

• Hospital-based inpatient role with remote coverage for select locations
• Support from behavioral health teams, outpatient/IOP, and emergency departments
• Use of EPIC electronic medical records
• Supportive leadership and interdisciplinary teams
