Responsibilities
- Identifies incorrect sequences and imaging, and follows up with technologists or department managers to correct incomplete or incorrect exams.
- Assists the Radiologist in providing timely results to ancillary departments and physician offices.
- Connects physician to physician phone calls and minimizes phone calls into the read rooms.
- Communicates clinical information and observations to radiologists, referring physicians, and other healthcare providers.
- Maintains awareness of the Radiologists' and Residents’ schedules, worklist rotations, and meetings.
- Corrects hanging protocols and manages one-off reads.
- Safeguards timely dictation by following up on incomplete or broken studies.
- Maintains awareness of PACS worklists for critical exams, STAT exams, and established turn-around times.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Demonstrates calm, professional and effective listening and speaking skills, and applies nonverbal communication techniques as appropriate during all communication.
- Ability to handle multiple phone lines (incoming and outgoing).
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn/adapt to new technologies and protocols and help develop the knowledge and competency of coworkers and Radiology team members.
- Proficiency in multi-tasking by monitoring worklists, handling multiple phone lines, performing administrative functions such as maintaining reading room cleanliness, and when authorized by Medical Staff, assisting with procedures.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of computer programs and applications, with a readiness to navigate evolving integrated healthcare delivery systems, technological innovations, and restructuring of work with an increased focus on customer service.
- Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills in all forms: written, oral, and electronic.
- Understanding of medical terminology to effectively communicate within a healthcare setting.
Qualifications
- High School Grad or Equiv
- Associate in Radiology Sciences (Preferred)
- 1+ working as a registered imaging technologist (any modality) (Preferred)
- Advanced modality certification (CT, MRI, NM) (Preferred)
- Registered Radiology Technologist (RT)(R)(ARRT) (Required)
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) (Required)
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) (Required)
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) (Required)
Skills
