This position is for a board-certified Advanced Practice Provider within the Hospitalist team.

About the role

We are expanding our Hospitalist team of physicians and advanced practice providers, focusing on clinical quality improvement and ensuring patients receive high-quality care at an affordable cost. We are seeking an experienced inpatient APP to join our McKay Dee Hospitalist team on an as-needed (PRN) basis. PRN providers must submit availability for at least two shifts per month, though shifts are not guaranteed.

The Hospitalist Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will manage hospitalized patients, primarily on general medicine floors, working with a multidisciplinary team including doctors, case managers, nurses, dietitians, and pharmacists to optimize patient care and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, including history and physical examinations.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians.
  • Manage acute and chronic medical conditions, including initiating appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists) to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Facilitate communication between patients, families, and healthcare teams, ensuring informed care decisions and smooth care transitions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes in the EHR system.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and best practice standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education to stay current with advancements in critical care and internal medicine.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives within the hospitalist program and hospital.
  • Participate in hospital committees, task forces, and meetings as required.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in Utah.
  • Board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP), or Physician Assistant (PA-C).
  • DEA Certificate II through V.
  • ACLS and BLS certification for healthcare providers.
  • Minimum of 2 years of inpatient APP experience; hospitalist or critical care setting preferred.
  • Due to the proficient clinical skills required, APPs currently in training or recently graduated will not be considered.

  • May be required to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $57.33 - $88.47, dependent upon experience.
