PRN Hospital Pharmacist

Job Summary

Cardinal Health manages the pharmacy at PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Tulsa and is seeking a PRN Pharmacist to cover PTO/vacation and sick time and be on-call after hours. The position involves providing pharmaceutical care services, supervising Pharmacy Technicians, adjusting dosages, educating patients, managing narcotics, and assisting the Pharmacy Director.

Responsibilities

- Verifies physician orders for medications using the pharmacy information system. - Supervises Pharmacy Technicians to ensure compliant and efficient operations. - Adjusts dosages based on established protocols and completes clinical tasks related to antimicrobial stewardship. - Educates patients on the proper use and expected effects of medications. - Manages narcotics and inventory control, including auditing outdated medications. - Contacts Nurses and Physicians as necessary to verify orders and obtain additional information. - Assists the Pharmacy Director in maintaining the pharmacy’s accreditation and implementing operational changes.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD required. - Must be a “good standing” licensed Pharmacist in the state of Oklahoma. - IV experience preferred. - In-patient/hospital pharmacy experience preferred. - Flexibility to work various shifts and on-call as needed. - Ability to hear, write, and speak clearly in order to communicate with customers and health care professionals. - Strong customer service skills. - Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting and holding of small objects. - Computer savvy to operate multiple pharmacy information systems. - May require vendor credentialing.
