About the role

The Autism Treatment Center (ATC) is hiring Direct Support Professionals for our Residential Treatment Centers. Our mission is to assist people with autism and related disorders throughout their lives as they learn, play, work, and live in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and support for individuals with autism, including personal care, medication assistance, and daily living activities.
  • Follow all ATC policies and mental health procedures.
  • Assist in training for personal care, communication, recreation, housekeeping, dietary needs, and self-medication or administration of medications.
  • Support the implementation of the Consumer Service Plan through coordination of services.
  • Maintain detailed clinical documentation, including:
    • Medication Sheets
    • Incident Reports
    • Clinical Program Logs
    • Purchase Orders and Receipts
    • Medication Therapy Notes
    • Data Collection
    • Work Orders
  • Act as a liaison between parents/guardians, the community, and ATC.
  • Stay in the living area of the home with a light on during consumer sleeping hours; supervise any consumer who gets out of bed.
  • Conduct and document safety rounds at 10:00 P.M., 12:00 A.M., 2:00 A.M., 4:00 A.M., and 6:00 A.M. (minimum). Additional rounds may be required by the House Manager.
  • Notify the House Manager of any unusual situations.
  • Handle stressful situations with patience, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
  • Conduct special supervisions of consumers as required by medical orders, behavior programs, or the House Manager.
  • Complete special paperwork or assignments as directed by the House Manager or Residential Coordinator.
  • Complete weekly documentation, including:
    • Time Sheets
    • Certificates of Absence
    • Activity Schedules
    • Fire Drills
  • Attend meetings and/or training as scheduled or required.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of medications for consumers.
  • Follow Universal Precautions and Bloodborne Pathogen Procedures due to potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas State Driver’s License and auto insurance.
  • Reliable transportation (ride shares and public transportation are not considered reliable).
  • Must maintain current CPR, First Aid, and SAMA certification.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
  • Ability to work with individuals who display aggressive behaviors.
  • At least 6 months of caregiving or direct patient care experience with references.

Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Must attend a week-long new employee orientation (Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM) before starting scheduled shifts.

Pay

$10.00 per hour with the ability to earn overtime. Employees who take advantage of overtime have earned $4,500+ per month.
