As a CT Technologist II, you will perform diagnostic CT exams on patients using specialized equipment. You will collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and high-quality imaging results. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of imaging techniques, excellent patient care skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while serving as an expert and resource for the CT department.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions.
  • Ensure proper patient identification, order verification, and patient preparation for exams.
  • Perform exams per department protocol and review images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Complete studies within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care or quality.
  • Assist and instruct students and other CT technologists in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.
  • Provide appropriate patient education, ensure patient comfort, and address concerns.
  • Practice infection control and sterile techniques.
  • Operate CT equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions.
  • Follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, QC programs, and reporting equipment failures.
  • Serve as an education liaison for new students, trainer for new employee orientation, and Superuser for equipment.
  • Participate in hospital/system group discussions or committees as the CT representative as delegated by the local department manager.

Requirements

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R) certification
  • Relevant state licensure (where required)
  • IV competency within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers
  • Proficiency in at least 5 of the following areas, with at least 80% of patient workload in these specialties:
    • Computed Tomography Certification/Registration
    • Interventional CT
    • Cryo/microwave ablations
    • CT Coronary Angiography
    • TAVR
    • TMVR
    • Cardiac imaging
    • Stroke perfusion imaging
    • Pediatric CT (patients under 15 years of age)

    Note: Must complete a minimum of 5 cases per specialty procedure, accompanied by documented skills pass-off by a lead CT technologist.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of the controlled substance module (where applicable)
  • Completion of the initial moderate sedation module (where applicable)
  • 3+ years of CT experience
  • Specific facility-based certifications (if required, defined and managed by each facility)

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions requiring clear verbal communication, hearing, and understanding of spoken information, alarms, and patient needs, especially during emergencies.
  • Manual dexterity for operating complex and delicate equipment, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation and medication preparation.
  • Ability to lift and use full range of motion to transfer patients, bend to retrieve and carry supplies, and handle items of varying weights, including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients, pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items, often in crowded or busy rooms.
  • May be required to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $43.09 - $66.47, with the actual rate dependent upon experience.
