Job Summary

Assists in nursing care by performance of routine and delegated duties according to the standards. Has a knowledge of and utilizes appropriate patient care protocol relating to the physical and psychological needs of the patient throughout their life span. Provides clerical services to the nursing unit. Serves as a liaison for the nurse and patient in interdepartmental communications. Functions in public relations role as receptionist.

Essential Job Functions

• Demonstrates proficient skills in multiple modules of the Client Server system
• Demonstrates ability to effectively manage multiple tasks at one time
• Demonstrates use of photocopier, fax machine, paging system, telephone, laser printer, patient call system, patient security systems
• Transports Meal Trays
• Ambulates Patients And Pushes Wheelchairs/Carts
• Maintains Clean Environment For The Patient In Their Room
• Collects, Labels and Transports Body Fluid Specimens
• Catheter Care
• Prioritizes And Processes Multiple Tasks In A Timely Manner
• Provides Personal Care For Patients Such As Bed Baths, Shampoo Hair, Shaving And Oral Hygiene
• Able To Assist With Feeding Patients
• Documents in MediTech
• Maintains Clean Environment For The Patient In Their Room
• Uses Equipment And Supplies Effectively And Efficiently

Education and Certification

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Required Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course), TCAR (Trauma Care After Resuscitation), CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)

Experience

• Previous hospital experience, nursing home experience, nurse aid class or nursing student experience desired, not required

• Works directly under supervision of R.N. on duty
