Part-time, temporary position (no more than 999 hours annually).

About the role

Positions in this job family provide direct and indirect non-professional nursing care or outreach services in a long-term-care setting under nursing or medical supervision. Duties include taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens, charting, escorting patients, assisting with activities of daily living, and ordering and receiving supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Performs direct nursing tasks: takes vital signs, assists with activities of daily living and hygiene needs, and obtains lab specimens.
  • Charts observations and activities; reports pertinent changes in patient condition.
  • Performs delegated or specialized functions as educationally prepared.
  • Escorts patients to and from various destinations.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean, safe environment.
  • Orders, receives, and stores supplies; performs basic clerical functions.
  • Participates in follow-up activities, tracks clients, schedules appointments, and performs related tasks.
  • Provides case finding and recruitment of at-risk persons for comprehensive health services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in providing patient care.
  • Current certification in good standing by the Oklahoma State Department of Health as an Advanced Certified Medication Aide (CMA-A).
  • Proficiency in English to perform essential functions.
  • Ability to record observations, follow oral and written directions, establish effective working relationships, apply basic nursing techniques, and judge situations accurately.
  • Some positions may require a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and/or a Class C (CDL) Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Upon conditional offer, Department of Veterans Affairs applicants must pass a physical examination.

Skills

  • Knowledge of English language for effective oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of public health services, record keeping, interviewing techniques, basic nursing practices, sanitation, personal hygiene, and medical terminology.

Pay

$33.00 USD per hour plus $0.87 per hour shift differential for 3 pm–7 am.

Schedule

12-hour night shifts: 6:30 pm – 7:00 am.
