Part-time, temporary position (no more than 999 hours annually).
About the role
Positions in this job family provide direct and indirect non-professional nursing care or outreach services in a long-term-care setting under nursing or medical supervision. Duties include taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens, charting, escorting patients, assisting with activities of daily living, and ordering and receiving supplies.
Responsibilities
- Performs direct nursing tasks: takes vital signs, assists with activities of daily living and hygiene needs, and obtains lab specimens.
- Charts observations and activities; reports pertinent changes in patient condition.
- Performs delegated or specialized functions as educationally prepared.
- Escorts patients to and from various destinations.
- Assists in maintaining a clean, safe environment.
- Orders, receives, and stores supplies; performs basic clerical functions.
- Participates in follow-up activities, tracks clients, schedules appointments, and performs related tasks.
- Provides case finding and recruitment of at-risk persons for comprehensive health services.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Two years of experience in providing patient care.
- Current certification in good standing by the Oklahoma State Department of Health as an Advanced Certified Medication Aide (CMA-A).
- Proficiency in English to perform essential functions.
- Ability to record observations, follow oral and written directions, establish effective working relationships, apply basic nursing techniques, and judge situations accurately.
- Some positions may require a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and/or a Class C (CDL) Commercial Driver’s License.
- Upon conditional offer, Department of Veterans Affairs applicants must pass a physical examination.
Skills
- Knowledge of English language for effective oral and written communication.
- Knowledge of public health services, record keeping, interviewing techniques, basic nursing practices, sanitation, personal hygiene, and medical terminology.
Pay
$33.00 USD per hour plus $0.87 per hour shift differential for 3 pm–7 am.
Schedule
12-hour night shifts: 6:30 pm – 7:00 am.
