About the role
Greenberg Traurig (GT), a global law firm, seeks a full-time Associate in the Private Wealth Services Practice of our Austin office. The position offers competitive compensation and benefits.
Responsibilities
- Designing and drafting complex estate planning documents, including Wills, revocable trust agreements, and irrevocable trust agreements.
- Drafting documents to transfer stock, business interests, and real estate.
- Managing complex trust and estate administrations.
- Drafting trust modifications, decantings, mergers, nonjudicial settlement agreements, and trust terminations.
- Conducting sophisticated legal research and analysis involving multijurisdictional and occasionally cross-border estate planning considerations.
Requirements
- A minimum of one year of experience in sophisticated estate planning for high-net-worth individuals and families, trust and estate administration, and gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning.
- Proven track record in trust and estate matters.
- Excellent academic and working credentials, strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- In good standing with the Texas Bar, or eligible for admission to the Texas Bar.
- Ranked in the top of their law school class or graduated from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.
- May have an LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning (strongly preferred, though not required if the candidate otherwise has a solid trusts and estates background).
Qualifications
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and proactive.
- Experience in a fast-paced law firm setting working on trust and estate matters.
- Ranked in the top of their law school class or graduated from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.
- May have an LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning (strongly preferred, though not required if the candidate otherwise has a solid trusts and estates background).
