About the role

The Music program at Olympic College offers private individual instruction in various instruments and vocal lessons. Faculty provide lessons through Zoom and/or Skype, adapting to a variety of learning modalities including Canvas, online resources, and face-to-face instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Teach evening, distance, and in-person classes on the Bremerton and other campuses when requested
  • Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and record keeping
  • Provide class syllabi/guidelines to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested
  • Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities to meet those needs
  • Punctually communicate with students, faculty, staff and administrators
  • Hold regularly scheduled private lessons for students for the schedule span of time enrolled (1/2 credit = ½ hr/week; 1 credit = 1 hr/week)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in area of instruction
  • Experience teaching or mentoring music students – specifically in area of desired instruction
  • Preferred: Master degree in area of instruction
  • Preferred: Two years teaching experience of private lessons – at the adult level

  • Foster a climate of multi-cultural understanding and appreciation
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission, diversity, and a learning-centered climate
  • Demonstrate success incorporating accessibility and special needs accommodations via course materials and classroom activities
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in the classroom and with other professionals to maintain effective and positive working relationships
  • Collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, and students as part of an educational team
  • Incorporate the use of technology in the delivery of course content and services as appropriate, including use of the College-approved learning management system

Conditions of Employment
