About the role

The Private Equity M&A Strategy & Diligence Senior Manager role within Deloitte's Strategy & Transactions team focuses on guiding clients through critical moments and transformational initiatives. This includes comprehensive support in areas like valuation modeling, cost optimization, restructuring, business design and transformation, infrastructure and real estate, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Sell, lead, and deliver complex strategic engagements that help clients unlock value through inorganic growth and value creation.
  • Contribute to the firm's growth and development by managing engagement economics and engagement risk, mentoring and developing staff, and improving internal processes.
  • Lead high-performing teams in competitive deal environments, driving tangible value creation, commercial and operational upside, synergy planning, and integration/carve-out readiness.
  • Own and present project deliverables that reflect a high standard of analysis, execute on multiple projects concurrently, and work with Manager-level personnel to ensure excellence in project work.
  • Manage direct on-time, quality delivery of work products, and manage day-to-day interactions with executive clients and sponsors.
  • Participate in and lead aspects of the proposal development process, contribute to the development of proposal pricing strategies, and own and present project deliverables.

Requirements

  • A candidate must have 8+ years of M&A or M&A Service Delivery experience in areas such as leading strategy and diligence (e.g., commercial, operational, carve-out etc.) engagements for mid-market PE clients and portfolio companies.
  • Provide a broad continuum of advisory services to support mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs, and partnerships, including developing strategy, target scans, and commercial and operational diligence.
  • Partner with senior executives to define how they employ M&A - in alignment with their corporate strategy, set and lead engagement objectives by defining the scope, plan, and budget, and define deliverable structure and content and facilitate buy-in of proposed strategies from top management levels at the client.
  • Mobilize and manage multiple engagement teams / workstreams, experience either in client service or in a consultative role (e.g., Corp Dev, Business Development, or Strategy).
  • Have a Bachelor's degree and 8+ years in a strategy consulting practice and/or industry experience; alternatively, an MBA with 6+ years relevant work experience is acceptable.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MBA; PhD; JD; MD; Masters) preferred.
  • Experience at a top strategy consulting firm or private equity / M&A Strategy boutique consulting firm preferred.
  • Experience with staff development and eagerness to mentor junior practitioners preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS PowerPoint) preferred.
