Private Equity Data & Reporting Specialist
About the role
The Private Equity Data & Reporting Specialist will join our Boston office as a member of the Research Operations team. The position serves as a critical link between the Private Equity Research team, Research Operations and the Client CIO team. This role is designed to ensure that private markets investment insights (across buyout, venture capital, growth equity, private real estate, co-investments, and secondaries) are clearly articulated, internally aligned, and efficiently implemented in client portfolios.
Responsibilities
- Acting as a central point of coordination between Private Markets Research and Client CIO teams to support the efficient implementation of private market investment recommendations including transmission of feedback to the research team and addressing queries from clients and Client CIO team members.
- First-line support for inbound inquiries to the Private Markets research team. Ability to effectively query and synthesize data to support ad-hoc and/or recurring inquiries.
- Closing collaboration with the Private Markets Reporting function to ensure fit-for-purpose and timely data, including liaising between research and data functions to close manager data gaps.
- Supporting Client CIOs with quantitative portfolio construction considerations, including pacing, diversification, liquidity profiles, and exposure management.
- Ownership of exposure data in internal systems and obtaining sign-offs for updates where appropriate. Identifying opportunities to improve and/or expand internal data sets and availability through additional fields or data sets.
- Preparation, update and review of investment pipeline, commitments, exposure and track record data to support our private markets program, Board reporting, business development or other uses as needed with a high degree of accuracy and responsiveness.
- Aiding in the preparation of marketing materials and portfolio reporting for use by clients, prospects or the business development team.
- Identifying opportunities to improve internal workflows, documentation, and knowledge sharing related to private markets investments.
- Building strong cross-functional relationships and developing a holistic understanding of the Firm’s investment and client service processes.
Qualifications / Attributes
- Has a strong understanding of private markets investment strategies, commitment pacing and quantitative reporting.
- Comfortable synthesizing complex investment concepts and communicating them clearly to internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrates high data literacy and a pro-active approach to identifying and closing data gaps to support enhanced reporting.
- Highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple workstreams across teams.
- Energized by a fast-paced, collaborative environment that requires intellectual curiosity and sound judgment.
- Intellectually curious and energized by the prospect of solving business-wide operational challenges.
- 4+ years of experience in private markets reporting, analytics, product strategy, portfolio management support, or a related role.
- Experience with S&P’s iLEVEL or similar private markets reporting platform. Understanding and ability to calculate IRR, multiples, quartiling and other fund-level quantitative assessments.
- Experience assessing embedded portfolio exposure and private company operating metrics preferred.
- Strong technical acumen, including advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large, complex datasets. Experience building or modifying analytical tools, models, or templates to support portfolio analysis and/or construction is a plus.
- Ability to interpret investment, exposure, and portfolio data and translate quantitative outputs into clear, actionable insights for internal stakeholders.
- Progress toward or interest in CFA, CAIA, or similar credentials preferred.
