About the Role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) provides skilled nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, following care plans and physician orders while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.

  • Deliver and coordinate quality patient care in compliance with physician orders.
  • Observe, assess, and document patient condition, care needs, and responses.
  • Participate in developing and updating nursing care plans.
  • Implement nursing actions based on assessments and achieve expected outcomes.
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient needs to prevent risks.
  • Comply with Aveanna policies, state/federal regulations, and the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Provide care using infection control measures per OSHA standards.
  • Educate patients and families on disease processes, self-care, and prevention strategies.
  • Maintain nursing competencies through education and training.

Requirements

  • Active, unencumbered LPN/LVN license in the state of practice (compact licenses must be transferred within 90 days).
  • Current CPR certification (with hands-on component).
  • TB skin test (current within the last 12 months).
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Six months of hands-on nursing experience preferred but not required.

Additional State-Specific Requirements

  • South Carolina: One (1) year of pediatrics experience.
  • California: One (1) year of experience under current nursing license.
  • Louisiana: One (1) year of experience as a licensed nurse.
  • Continuing education as required by state.

Preferences

  • Six (6) months of recent clinical care experience as a Licensed Nurse.
  • Home health experience.

Skills & Abilities

  • Attention to detail and strong time management.
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Good organization and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Must speak, write, read, and understand English.
  • Ability to travel and lift 50 pounds.
  • Sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance.
  • Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and twisting.
  • Ability to sit, climb stairs, and maintain visual/hearing acuity.
  • Strong sense of smell and touch.
  • Ability to respond physically and mentally to emergencies.

Work Environment

  • Function in diverse environments with potential exposure to allergens and varying conditions.
  • Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
