About the Role
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) provides skilled nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, following care plans and physician orders while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Deliver and coordinate quality patient care in compliance with physician orders.
- Observe, assess, and document patient condition, care needs, and responses.
- Participate in developing and updating nursing care plans.
- Implement nursing actions based on assessments and achieve expected outcomes.
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient needs to prevent risks.
- Comply with Aveanna policies, state/federal regulations, and the Nurse Practice Act.
- Provide care using infection control measures per OSHA standards.
- Educate patients and families on disease processes, self-care, and prevention strategies.
- Maintain nursing competencies through education and training.
Requirements
- Active, unencumbered LPN/LVN license in the state of practice (compact licenses must be transferred within 90 days).
- Current CPR certification (with hands-on component).
- TB skin test (current within the last 12 months).
- Reliable transportation.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Six months of hands-on nursing experience preferred but not required.
Additional State-Specific Requirements
- South Carolina: One (1) year of pediatrics experience.
- California: One (1) year of experience under current nursing license.
- Louisiana: One (1) year of experience as a licensed nurse.
- Continuing education as required by state.
Preferences
- Six (6) months of recent clinical care experience as a Licensed Nurse.
- Home health experience.

Physical Requirements
- Must speak, write, read, and understand English.
- Ability to travel and lift 50 pounds.
- Sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance.

- Ability to sit, climb stairs, and maintain visual/hearing acuity.
- Strong sense of smell and touch.
- Ability to respond physically and mentally to emergencies.
