Private Duty Caregiver

About the role

Homestead Health Care is seeking Private Duty caregivers in the Clinton Township, MI area to provide physical and emotional support to elderly clients. The position offers flexible 4‑ to 12‑hour shifts, with opportunities for full‑time or part‑time hours.

Responsibilities

• Use transfer assistive devices (e.g., Hoyer lifts, sit‑to‑stand, gait belts, slide board).
• Assist residents with daily living activities: transferring, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and walking.
• Evaluate changes in client health and communicate with the healthcare team as needed.
• Maintain a clean environment, including light housekeeping.
• Clean and manage devices such as catheters, colostomy bags, and oxygen supplies.
• Assess client condition changes and report immediately to a supervisor.
• Develop and implement meaningful life‑enrichment activities.
• Follow schedule and assist residents with repositioning.
• Transport clients to doctors’ appointments or shopping.
• Complete all required documentation and charting.
• Plan, shop for, and prepare nutritious meals.
• Provide companionship and emotional support.
• Adhere to all Homestead policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of caregiving experience.
• Experience with medication administration.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Reliable transportation (travel radius up to 25 miles).
• Weekend availability.

Pay

Starting wage is $18.00 per hour with competitive pay rates.

Schedule

Flexible shifts ranging from 4 to 12 hours. Current client need is 6:30 PM – 10:30 PM. Full‑time and part‑time hours are available.
