Private Duty Caregiver

Homestead Health Care is seeking Private Duty caregivers to provide physical and emotional assistance to elderly clients in the Macomb, MI area. The role offers flexible shifts, competitive pay, and opportunities for growth within a Top Workplace‑recognized organization.

Responsibilities

• Use transfer assistive devices (e.g., Hoyer lifts, sit‑to‑stand, gait belts, slide board).
• Assist residents with daily living activities such as transferring in and out of bed, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and walking.
• Evaluate changes in the client’s health and confer with other healthcare team members as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of the environment, including light housekeeping.
• Use and clean devices such as catheters, colostomy bags, and oxygen supplies.
• Assess for changes in condition and communicate immediately to a supervisor.
• Develop and implement meaningful life‑enrichment activities.
• Follow schedule and assist residents with repositioning.
• Transport clients to doctors’ appointments or shopping.
• Complete all required documentation and charting.
• Plan, shop for, and prepare nutritious meals.
• Provide companionship for the client.
• Follow all Homestead policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of caregiving experience.
• Experience passing medications.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Reliable transportation (travel up to 25 miles).
• Weekend availability.

Pay

Starting at $17 per hour with competitive pay rates.

Schedule

• 4‑ to 12‑hour flexible shifts.
• Current client need: 6:30 pm – 10:30 pm.
• Full‑time to part‑time hours available.
• Weekend availability required.
