About the Role

The Private Banker develops, manages, and expands relationships with high‑net‑worth and affluent clients by delivering integrated banking solutions through exceptional service, responsiveness, and trusted advice. The role supports multiple lines of business, including deposit growth, credit solutions, cash management, residential lending, and investment and wealth‑management services, and serves as a trusted advisor coordinating across banking, lending, mortgage, and wealth‑management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and grow a portfolio of affluent and high‑net‑worth individuals, families, and closely held businesses by understanding their financial goals and delivering solutions that deepen relationships and drive long‑term growth.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of account opening, account maintenance, deposit products, digital banking services, and routine transaction processing to deliver personalized, efficient service that meets each client’s unique needs and expectations.
  • Manage portfolio performance with accountability for client retention, profitability, relationship growth, and the delivery of an exceptional client experience.
  • Develop and execute regular relationship plans that align client needs with bank solutions to expand relationships, increase balances, strengthen retention, and improve profitability while supporting long‑term portfolio growth and client retention.
  • Act as the central point of coordination across Commercial Banking, Consumer Banking, Mortgage, Treasury Management, and Wealth Management teams to deliver integrated solutions and a seamless client experience.
  • Identify client borrowing needs and facilitate referrals to appropriate lending partners to support financing objectives and strengthen the relationship.
  • Conduct banking activities in accordance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and sound risk‑management practices to protect clients, safeguard the bank, and maintain its reputation.
  • Represent the bank at community, civic, and professional events to enhance brand visibility, cultivate referral sources, and identify new business opportunities.
  • Achieve established goals related to deposit growth, fee income, and overall relationship profitability to support portfolio performance and organizational growth.
  • Participate in audits, exams, and internal reviews as required to support regulatory readiness and continuous improvement.

Schedule

This regular full‑time, salaried exempt position averages approximately 40 hours per week. Hours may vary between 8:00 am and 5:30 pm CDT, Monday through Friday. The role works on‑site at the IncredibleBank branch on 17th Avenue in Wausau, WI, with frequent travel as business or customer needs dictate.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience or training in retail banking, private banking, wealth management, or a related financial‑services role (required), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated success managing client relationships and meeting production goals across banking products.
  • Strong relationship‑management and consultative‑sales skills.
  • Broad knowledge of deposit products and credit solutions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented, community‑bank culture.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow‑through.
  • Experience with CRM and core banking systems.
  • Ability to utilize reporting tools and bank technology platforms to support client relationship management and business‑development activities.
