General Summary
The Prison Education Program Advisor will be responsible for advising, tracking, and managing registration/study hall with the students in the Prison Education Program. This position will be required to visit assigned prisons on a scheduled basis.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Advising PEP students - 50%
- Student Academic Support - 10%
- Making sure students progress - 10%
- Visiting Prisons for Registration/Study Hall - 20%
- Other duties as assigned - 10%
Education and Experience Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree required
- Higher education experience
- Must meet the Department of Corrections requirements for entry into the prison facilities
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand and/or sit for several hours consecutively
- May work in buildings without elevator access, requiring routine use of stairways to move between floors
- May work in areas of a facility without air conditioning
Other Skills and Abilities
- Office products experience (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, others as needed)
- Web conferencing/Zoom experience
- Strong communication skills
Weekly Travel
- Travel to assigned prisons (2-3 days per week within a 100-mile radius)
- This will require a personal vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed monthly)
