Prison Education Program Advisor

General Summary

The Prison Education Program Advisor will be responsible for advising, tracking, and managing registration/study hall with the students in the Prison Education Program. This position will be required to visit assigned prisons on a scheduled basis.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

• Advising PEP students - 50%
• Student Academic Support - 10%
• Making sure students progress - 10%
• Visiting Prisons for Registration/Study Hall - 20%
• Other duties as assigned - 10%

Education and Experience Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree required
• Higher education experience
• Must meet the Department of Corrections requirements for entry into the prison facilities

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand and/or sit for several hours consecutively
• May work in buildings without elevator access, requiring routine use of stairways to move between floors
• May work in areas of a facility without air conditioning

Other Skills and Abilities

• Office products experience (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, others as needed)
• Web conferencing/Zoom experience
• Strong communication skills

Weekly Travel

• Travel to assigned prisons (2-3 days per week within a 100-mile radius)
• This will require a personal vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed monthly)
