Prior Law Enforcement - Court Security Officer, Milwaukee, WI

Court Security Officers (CSOs) will provide armed security to courthouses under the USMS contract.

Responsibilities

• Perform entrance control: Enforce the District's entry and identification system, including operating security screening equipment to detect weapons, contraband, and prohibited items. Check items such as handbags, briefcases, computers, packages, baby carriages, and wheelchairs.
• Perform roving patrol: Patrol court facilities and grounds in accordance with applicable post orders.
• Perform stationary post assignments: Stand guard at stationary posts, including monitoring closed-circuit television, duress alarm systems, courtrooms, judge chambers, and jury rooms.
• Perform escort duties: Provide armed escort services for judges, court personnel, jurors, and other designated individuals when directed.
• Perform garage parking and pedestrian control: Direct traffic and control lights on court facility properties as described in post orders and/or standard operating procedures.
• Enforce law and order: Enforce federal law while performing assigned duties, including detaining individuals attempting unauthorized access to Government property or court proceedings, or committing acts that imperil safety.
• Prepare reports and records: Document contract performance issues, such as labor hours worked, accidents, fire, bomb threats, unusual incidents, or unlawful acts within the court facility area.
• Court attendance: Secure unattended courtrooms, inspect courtrooms prior to proceedings, test security devices, and perform other duties concerning court area security.
• Preserve order: Provide security presence in the courtroom, enforce federal law and judicial orders, enforce local court rules regarding prohibited items, and protect court proceedings as circumstances dictate.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• At least three (3) calendar years of verifiable experience as a certified law enforcement officer or its military equivalency (Master-at-Arms, CGPD, Security Forces Specialist, etc.); all three (3) years must have occurred within the last seven (7) years. Experience must have included general arrest authority.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Must interpret, explain, and apply rules, regulations, directives, and procedures.
• Valid driver's license from state of residency with a safe driving record for the past five years.
• Clearance from the Department of Justice.
• Completion or graduation from a certified Federal, state, county, local, or military law enforcement training academy; must provide certification as proof.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

Pay

$33.98 USD per hour.
