Walden Security is recruiting experienced Court Security Officers to provide armed security to courthouses under the USMS contract.

Responsibilities

  • Perform entrance control: enforce the District's entry and identification system, operate security screening equipment to detect weapons, contraband, and prohibited items, and check items such as handbags, briefcases, computers, packages, baby carriages, and wheelchairs.
  • Perform roving patrol: patrol court facilities and grounds in accordance with applicable post orders.
  • Perform stationary post assignments: monitor closed-circuit television, duress alarm systems, and other security equipment; guard courtrooms, judge chambers, and jury rooms.
  • Perform escort duties: provide armed escort services for judges, court personnel, jurors, and other designated individuals when directed.
  • Perform garage parking and pedestrian control: direct traffic and control lights on court facility properties as described in post orders and/or standard operating procedures.
  • Enforce law and order: enforce federal law, detain unauthorized individuals, and respond to acts that imperil safety and security.
  • Prepare reports and records: document contract performance issues, labor hours, accidents, fire, bomb threats, unusual incidents, or unlawful acts within the court facility area.
  • Court attendance: secure unattended courtrooms, inspect courtrooms prior to proceedings, test security devices, and perform other court-area security duties.
  • Preserve order: provide security presence in the courtroom, enforce federal law and judicial orders, enforce local court rules regarding prohibited items, and protect court proceedings.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least three (3) calendar years of verifiable experience as a certified law enforcement officer or its military equivalency (e.g., Master-at-Arms, CGPD, Security Forces Specialist) within the last seven (7) years, including general arrest authority.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; interpret and apply rules, regulations, directives, and procedures.
  • Valid driver’s license from state of residency with a safe driving record for the past five years.
  • Clearance from the Department of Justice.
  • Completion of a certified Federal, state, county, local, or military law enforcement training academy; certification required as proof.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must meet medical standards specified by the United States Marshal Service (USMS).

Pay

$37.74 USD per hour.
