Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain standardized process parameters (tension, pressure, viscosity, temperature, impression, speed).
- Reduce defects, downtime, and waste through structured root-cause analysis.
- Lead Lean/Six Sigma/DOE-based improvement projects to increase throughput and reliability.
- Run press trials for new inks, substrates, coatings, plates, and process changes; document and implement improvements.
- Partner with Maintenance to troubleshoot issues and strengthen preventive/predictive maintenance.
- Train operators on SOPs, setup methods, color standards, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with OEMs (including W&H) on calibrations, upgrades, and FAT/SAT activities.
- Support quality initiatives: color management, defect reduction, SPC, and capability improvements.
- Maintain accurate documentation: process standards, trial reports, work instructions, and equipment settings.
- Optimize W&H press performance: setup efficiency, run speeds, registration, drying/curing, and print quality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, Printing Technology, or related field.
- 3–5+ years in flexographic printing, press operations, process engineering, or film-based packaging.
- Experience with W&H presses (Miraflex, Novoflex, or similar).
- Strong understanding of printing variables: ink systems, anilox/plates, tension control, web handling, impression, viscosity, and color stability.
- Hands-on experience with continuous improvement and data-driven problem solving.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process issues.
- Communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of inks, coatings, adhesives, color control, and print inspection systems.
- Experience with DOE, SPC, capability studies, Lean/Six Sigma.
- Prior involvement in FAT/SAT, press installations, or equipment upgrades.
- Familiarity with MES/ERP systems and production data tools.
- Experience in flexible packaging, blown film, converting, or high-speed printing.
