Print Shop Technician

Core responsibilities

• Print production: Operates and monitors digital and offset presses to produce high-quality print jobs.
• Equipment setup and maintenance: Prepares equipment, adjusts settings, loads paper stock, performs preventative maintenance, and cleans equipment.
• File preparation and processing: Processes client-provided digital files, downloads data, and manipulates settings to ensure print readiness.
• Quality assurance: Conducts quality checks during print runs and performs final inspections of finished products.
• Troubleshooting and repairs: Diagnoses and resolves equipment issues, coordinates with maintenance personnel for major malfunctions.
• Finishing and binding: Operates bindery equipment to cut, collate, fold, drill, and bind materials.
• Material handling and inventory: Manages ink, paper, and other supplies, tracks inventory, and moves materials.
• Customer service and delivery: Assists customers with orders, explains technical concepts, and delivers finished materials.

Essential skills and qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent; technical certification or associate's degree in a related field preferred.
• Prior experience in a print shop or related production environment, with training provided on specific company equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude for operating and maintaining machinery.
• Excellent attention to detail and color perception.
• Computer skills for handling digital files and controlling automated systems.
• Ability to read and follow work orders and technical specifications.
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills, particularly for troubleshooting.
• Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
