Print Operator - 1st Shift
Job Duties
- Work from shop orders, special customer requirements, written and verbal instructions, diagrams as to conductor size, wall size, OD multiples of lengths, amount of each color, width, lay and number of stripes to be applied, type of ink to be used, thinner required, work in BPCS system.
- Use simple tools and measuring devices.
- Operate a number of striping/printing machines; set up machine, presetting counter for correct stripe length; select proper striping or printing wheels and ink.
- Set over depending on type of insulation being striped, printed or dyed.
- Maintain proper ink thickness, stripe dimension and lay, correct amount of centrifugal force on striping wheel in accordance with wire gauge, setting of printing wheels.
- Check for durability of results and quality of color.
- Make visual checks with micrometer, check OD, stripe dimension, print distance, etc. conductor size; labels reel and direct to next operation.
- Input specified data into BPCS system.
- Detect and report defective materials, malfunctioning equipment, unusual conditions to supervision.
- Observe all safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain equipment and work areas in clean and orderly condition.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Knowledge of ordinary arithmetic including decimals, fractions, and simple use of specification together with use of adjustable measuring instruments.
- Be a team player, enjoy detailed work and willing to learn!
Physical Qualifications
- Position requires moderate physical effort consisting of frequent moving, average weights, lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing, pulling etc.
- Long periods of standing
- Continuous mental and visual attention to repetitive work, requiring constant alertness or activity.
- Working conditions may expose employee to noise, fumes, dust, solvents, hot and cold temperatures etc.

Hiring Range: $19.67-23.62/hour
