Principal User Experience Designer
Position Responsibilities
- System ‑ level UX architecture
- Define and evolve information architecture, navigation models, and application shells for complex, data ‑ dense enterprise products.
- Establish durable UX foundations that engineering can build on while supporting future change.
- Own, define and drive the UX strategy for a feature or products based on solid Design Thinking and rationale
- AI ‑ first experience design
- Design AI experiences that are embedded, contextual, and workflow driven, not just simple addon experiences like chat.
- Define and apply established guardrails (explainability, progressive disclosure, human-in-the-loop), leveraging company standards and user-centered design principals to concrete product designs.
- Vibe coded prototyping
- Experienced using modern AI coding tools to build working, high-fidelity prototypes. Translate ideas into executable UX and support engineers directly, rather than static mock-ups which require re-implementation.
- Design system leadership
- Able to apply and contribute enhancements to design systems. Working with owners to maintain the cross-product design system, setting standards for component and patterns, source of truth governance, and integration with modern build & AI tools.
- Ensure consistency between design intent and implemented UI.
- Research ‑ driven decision making
- Lead or deeply engage in user research, competitive analysis, and validation. Synthesize large, complex inputs into clear UX direction that product and engineering can act on.
- Product Team Collaboration
- Work as a peer partner in teams including Product Management, Engineering, and User Experience. Participate in AI ‑ assisted software development lifecycles where UX is part of generation, verification, and outcome measurement.
- Enablement and influence
- Enable other designers and teams through documentation, examples, training, and working artifacts. Confidently represent UX in leadership and executive contexts.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of professional UX/product design experience, with at least 5 years in enterprise software contexts.
- Demonstrated experience designing enterprise‑scale, complex systems (ERP, platforms, or similarly complex domains).
- Experience leading the design process, acting as the driver and owner for work planning and organization, strategic design approach via work decomposition and planning and stakeholder management
- Proven ability to operate across strategy, architecture, research, and execution.
- Hands‑on comfort with modern prototyping and AI‑assisted workflows.
- Strong systems thinking; able to reason about scale, consistency, and evolution.
- Trusted partner to senior product and engineering leaders.

Compensation Info
The U.S. salary range for this position is $86,500.00-$152,500.00. This range is subject to change as Deltek takes a number of factors into consideration when determining individual base pay, such as location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including incentive compensation and equity.
