About the role

Vantage Data Centers is seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager to join our Product team in Denver, CO. This role is based on-site 3 days per week with flexibility for 2 remote days. Reporting to the Director of Product, this individual will be responsible for enabling the execution of the Product portfolio programs, ensuring timely and informed decision-making, and establishing mechanisms for closed-loop learning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional execution of Product portfolio programs from initiation through rollout, including structured plans, milestones, risks, and interlocks.
  • Influence technical and operational decisions by surfacing trade-offs, driving timely decision-making in forums, and ensuring decisions are backed by evidence and clearly recorded.
  • Establish mechanisms (recurring forums, decision logs, escalation paths) that are lightweight but enforce clarity and follow-through.
  • Define and operate release readiness checklists and go/no-go gates for Product releases, including required artefacts, test/validation evidence expectations (where applicable), and operational acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with Industrialized Delivery to align readiness definitions with commissioning and handover quality, defect escape reduction, and standardized evidence patterns.
  • Identify and manage cross-team dependencies across Product Management, Engineering, Deployment, Delivery, Operations, Procurement, and vendors; ensure clear owners and decision deadlines.
  • Prevent late integration surprises by pulling integration, validation, and readiness concerns forward into the operating cadence (shift-left posture).
  • Build and run the end-to-end "field signal to platform decision" mechanism with Product Deployment: standard intake taxonomy, triage cadence, decision forums, turnaround targets, and traceability from deviation or issue to decision to standard/variant update.
  • Ensure learnings become actionable inputs to Product Managers (well-formed problem statements, quantified impact where possible, recommended options, and decision asks).
  • Target a measurable reduction in cycle time from field signal intake to platform decision and shipped improvement.
  • Standardize artefacts and templates (program one-pagers, decision memos, readiness checklists, release notes, risk registers) to reduce ambiguity and increase throughput.
  • Partner with Product Operations on tooling strategy (intake, dependency tracking, documentation, dashboards) to support traceability and audit-ready decision hygiene.
  • Manage and grow a small team of TPMs and PMs; define operating standards, coaching, and performance expectations.
  • Model the Pit Lane behaviors: written communication, clear decision asks, and bias to speed with certainty.
  • Define operating standards, coaching, and performance expectations for TPMs/PMs in program fundamentals and technical fluency.

Requirements

  • 10–15+ years leading technical programs in complex, scaled environments (data centers, mission-critical infrastructure, cloud infrastructure, industrial automation, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ownership of cross-org programs with technical depth, ambiguity, and material operational consequences (schedule, quality, reliability, safety).
  • Principal-level scope typically implies multi-team impact and influencing technical direction through mechanisms and decision forums.
  • Strong technical fluency in data center systems and operational realities (power, cooling, controls/telemetry, commissioning, handover, vendor integration).
  • Proven ability to influence and drive outcomes across multiple organizations and stakeholder groups.
  • Experience building execution mechanisms that improve speed, predictability, and quality (for example: decision cadence, dependency management, readiness practices, measurable outcomes).
  • People leadership experience, or a track record of leading and developing TPMs/program managers through coaching and high standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable working with executive stakeholders.
  • Travel required is expected to be up to 10% but may increase over time as the business evolves.

Preferred

  • Hyperscale data center experience across design, delivery, commissioning, operations, or productization.
  • Experience in global, multi-region organizations operating with common standards and governed variants.
  • Familiarity with industrialized delivery concepts such as evidence-based readiness, repeatable handover practices, and continuous improvement loops.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Lead large, cross-functional programs end-to-end, from problem definition through rollout and adoption.
  • Establish and run lightweight governance: clear forums, decision paths, and accountability that accelerate delivery.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, engineering leaders, delivery, operations, supply chain, and key vendors to align execution with real-world constraints.
  • Build repeatable practices for readiness, rollout, and learning, ensuring deployment and operational feedback informs continuous improvement.
  • Manage and develop a small team of TPMs and program/project managers as the organization scales.
