About the role

Develop and utilize tools and technologies to improve art asset production workflow.

Able to make decisions on Graphics and Rendering techniques based on project requirements.

Analyze competitive products and make recommendations to senior management.

Spearhead R&D efforts for tools, content and new technologies related to art and aesthetics.

Collaborate with art leads to establish shared art culture and best practices.

Work with engineering to develop cutting edge tools and technology.

Coordinate with the other content producers to ensure proper game performance and optimization.

Identify and design solutions to pipeline and technology deficiencies within the studio.

Research future solutions and cutting-edge art technology.

Review pipelines and asset production process to identify best practices.

Train other technical artists.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and utilize tools and technologies to improve art asset production workflow.
  • Able to make decisions on Graphics and Rendering techniques based on project requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in technical art.
  • Shipped at least one AAA game as a principal technical artist/technical art director.
  • Knowledge and experience in open world environment production.
  • Strong understanding of proprietary tools and technology.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with modern 3D software packages (Maya, 3D Studio Max, Blender, Motion Builder, zBrush etc.).
  • Strong understanding of game development process.
  • Strong understanding of performance and pipeline optimization.
  • Strong understanding of Python /C#/ or other Scripting Languages.
  • Strong understanding in photo-realistic rendering.
  • Strong understanding of modern 3D engines and the technology behind them.
  • Up to date knowledge of current rendering techniques and development processes.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines.
  • Diligence with individual and team tasks, schedule and adherence to budget limitations.
  • Strong interest in computer or video games as a player.
  • Strong Troubleshooting skills.
  • Positive attitude and a desire to bring new ideas to the team.
  • Pasion for making and playing great games, with an awareness of current titles and industry trends.

Qualifications

  • Location: State(s) - US-California-Los Angeles
  • Expected base pay range: $138,800.00 to $261,400.00 per year.
  • Actual pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Eligible for a sign on payment, relocation package, and restricted stock units, which will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • Eligible for medical, dental, vision, life and disability benefits, and participation in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
  • Eligible for up to 15 to 25 days of vacation per year (depending on the employee’s tenure), up to 13 days of holidays throughout the calendar year, and up to 10 days of paid sick leave per year.
  • Your benefits may be adjusted to reflect your location, employment status, duration of employment with the company, and position level.
  • Benefits may also be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
