About the Role

Owns complex system modules and fleet automation workflows; defines integration contracts across software, firmware, and hardware. Leads deep-dive investigations for incidents and hard faults; creates durable fixes and preventive controls. Designs performance, reliability, and fault-tolerance improvements for drivers, services, and provisioning pipelines at scale. Elevates code quality via reviews, patterns, and tooling; sets standards for observability, security, and compliance.

Guides platform bring-up and diagnostics; collaborates with silicon, board, and firmware partners to validate end-to-end behavior. Designs and implements firmware components integrating diverse interfaces and protocols; diagnoses cross-domain issues (firmware/hardware/OS/bootloaders) with logic analyzers, JTAG, and emulators; participates in schematic/board reviews; leads initial board/device bring-up; develops and debugs advanced features (e.g., RAS, high-speed I/O, chipset/SoC services) across ARM, AMD, Intel, and custom ASIC/FPGA platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Systems Software Development: Design, develop, and maintain complex system software modules for managing, monitoring, and provisioning computer servers, storage, networking, and GPU subsystems in hyperscale environments. Utilize advanced knowledge to design, develop, and deploy software layers and tooling to automate hardware provisioning and onboarding of servers to large-scale fleets. Play a significant role in platform bring-up, firmware updates, platform-level diagnostics, and complex cross-layer debugging. Diagnose and resolve complex issues across software, firmware, and hardware layers, working in DevOps and incident response paradigms to maintain reliability and availability.
  • Software Development and Coding: Design software solutions and analyze requirements to achieve business and operational goals. Adhere to and improve execution of all phases of the software development lifecycle; provide guidance and coaching to engineers. Develop and guide new software features and enhancements, leading design specifications and ensuring accessibility. Lead code reviews, conduct debugging and troubleshooting, and implement fixes for complex software issues. Develop comprehensive software testing, quality assurance processes, error logging, monitoring, and observability. Conduct performance profiling and optimization, building scalable solutions. Troubleshoot API functionality and integration, implementing complex API versioning, lifecycle, and interoperability strategies.
  • Software Architecture: Implement and contribute to developing software, systems, and services. Recommend project or design scope and provide technical guidance to less experienced developers. Contribute to periodic reviews and ensure adherence to architectural standards. Collaborate with stakeholders and implement complex performance optimization and scalability strategies. Conduct technology research and evaluation for potential architectural changes.
  • Issue/Defect Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer issues and align solutions. Provide advanced technical guidance and support regarding customer-reported issues. Advocate for customer interests and suggest product enhancements. Identify and implement customer issue and defect handling processes. Investigate and troubleshoot complex maintenance issues to ensure customer agreement on solutions.
  • Practices and Standards Compliance: Collaborate with the team to follow development practices and coding standards, providing coaching to less experienced team members. Participate in peer review processes, provide technical leadership, and ensure code quality. Demonstrate and share advanced knowledge of industry best practices and apply them to software development. Implement complex secure coding practices to prevent security vulnerabilities.
  • Development Operations: Perform periodic maintenance and testing operations for system upgrades or patching (e.g., critical vulnerabilities). Drive improvements, ensure automation, testing, and debugging of systems to maintain service availability, health, support, and reliability.
  • Planning & Execution: Manage and coordinate moderately complex tasks, monitoring timelines and deliverables. Efficiently delegate, monitor, and prioritize work across multiple projects, providing technical oversight. Adjust plans to address shifts in resources or timelines.
  • Collaboration & Partnership: Collaborate across the organization to align on expectations and achieve shared objectives. Leverage understanding of business leaders, stakeholders, and customers to ensure proposed solutions meet their needs. Support inclusivity by actively seeking and listening to diverse perspectives.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and address moderately complex issues by analyzing data to identify solutions. Proactively escalate unresolved or critical issues with thorough assessments and suggest potential solutions. Review, contribute to, and document problem-solving strategies.
  • Continuous Learning: Pursue learning opportunities to expand knowledge and skills. Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and best practices. Proactively seek and leverage ongoing feedback and training. Coach and mentor junior team members, fostering continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop ideas, recommend updates, and collaborate on implementing process improvements. Evaluate the impact on key stakeholders and solicit feedback for alternative approaches.
  • Performance and Development: Contribute to the talent development pipeline by participating in candidate interviews, assessing candidates, and providing hiring recommendations.
