About the role
Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Cloud Technology Engineer to join our team. This role involves architecting, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure for high-availability government systems, leading cloud modernization initiatives, ensuring systems meet stringent security and regulatory requirements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Architect, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure for high-availability government systems
- Lead cloud modernization initiatives, including migration of legacy systems to modern cloud platforms
- Ensure systems meet stringent government security, regulatory, and performance requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, security, and program teams to deliver resilient and compliant cloud solutions
- Develop automation, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code solutions to support scalable deployments
- Troubleshoot complex system issues across distributed cloud environments
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineers
- Support program reviews, design sessions, and technical documentation for government stakeholders
Qualifications
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
- Hands-on experience with large-scale government systems, preferably within FAA or other ATC-related programs
- Expertise with one or more major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Strong knowledge of containerization, orchestration, and microservices (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience implementing infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM)
- Proven ability to design highly available, fault-tolerant cloud architectures
