What You Will Do
- Responsible for the structural assessments of repairs to commercial engine static components.
- Knowledge of Integrated Product Development (IPD), Structures Engineering Knowledge System (EKS), and the Product Design Review process.
- Cookordination structural analysis requirements for repairs with other ASE technical disciplines and module centers/Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs).
- Provide technical coaching and mentoring to entry level structures engineers.
- Participate on multi-disciplinary teams to provide design solutions that meet design and structural requirements.
- Work independently on structural analysis solutions when historical solutions are not available or applicable.
- Analysis may include both classical methods and/or detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- ASE Structures provides a work environment that fosters increased development fundamentals with knowledge development of fracture mechanics and finite element analysis (ANSYS) modeling.
- Cookordination with others to advance the technology and improve engineering processes/methods, plus document and present results to management and other technical leaders.
- Knowledge of Integrated Product Development (IPD), Structures Engineering Knowledge System (EKS), and the Product Design Review process.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- 8+ years of engineering experience or 5+ years with an advanced degree
- U.S. Citizenship required due to program requirements
- 10% Travel
We Prefer
- Working knowledge of ANSYS required or other FEA software.
- Awareness of manufacturing repair processes experience a plus.
- Experience using Pratt & Whitney/industry fatigue and fracture mechanics lifing systems: PWLIFE, ARLS, or crack growth (SURCK, Darwin, Franc3D) systems a plus
- Strong understanding of low cycle fatigue (LCF) and fatigue / fracture mechanics theory and applications.
- Background in structural analysis or mechanical design.
