What You Will Do

  • Responsible for the structural assessments of repairs to commercial engine static components.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Product Development (IPD), Structures Engineering Knowledge System (EKS), and the Product Design Review process.
  • Cookordination structural analysis requirements for repairs with other ASE technical disciplines and module centers/Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs).
  • Provide technical coaching and mentoring to entry level structures engineers.
  • Participate on multi-disciplinary teams to provide design solutions that meet design and structural requirements.
  • Work independently on structural analysis solutions when historical solutions are not available or applicable.
  • Analysis may include both classical methods and/or detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • ASE Structures provides a work environment that fosters increased development fundamentals with knowledge development of fracture mechanics and finite element analysis (ANSYS) modeling.
  • Cookordination with others to advance the technology and improve engineering processes/methods, plus document and present results to management and other technical leaders.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Product Development (IPD), Structures Engineering Knowledge System (EKS), and the Product Design Review process.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 8+ years of engineering experience or 5+ years with an advanced degree
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to program requirements
  • 10% Travel

We Prefer

  • Working knowledge of ANSYS required or other FEA software.
  • Awareness of manufacturing repair processes experience a plus.
  • Experience using Pratt & Whitney/industry fatigue and fracture mechanics lifing systems: PWLIFE, ARLS, or crack growth (SURCK, Darwin, Franc3D) systems a plus
  • Strong understanding of low cycle fatigue (LCF) and fatigue / fracture mechanics theory and applications.
  • Background in structural analysis or mechanical design.
