Principal SRE

For our client, we are seeking a Principal SRE to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space. This role will own the reliability, availability, and durability of critical production services in a highly technical environment. The Principal SRE will partner closely with engineering and operations teams to improve observability, strengthen incident response, and build automation that reduces manual work while scaling platform stability. The position also calls for independent execution from issue discovery through resolution, along with leadership in on-call rotations and post-incident reviews. In addition, this individual will contribute to service-level design, storage performance expectations, and cross-functional process improvements that support long-term operational excellence. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $215,000 – $250,000 annually Responsibilities Own the availability and durability of critical services across production environments Drive projects independently from problem discovery through resolution Assist in designing service health metrics using SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets Participate in leadership on-call rotations and post-incident reviews Design automation for operational tasks to reduce manual intervention Collaborate with engineering on storage design and performance expectations Lead cross-functional teams to identify gaps in observability and operations processes Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience 10+ years of experience in site reliability, systems engineering, or operations, with hyperscaler experience preferred Solid Linux systems administration and troubleshooting skills Proven ability to leverage AI tools for platform stability and scalability Experience with containers, including Kubernetes and Docker, and microservices concepts Benefits Healthcare for family, including dental and vision Flexible vacation policy Maternity and paternity leave Learning and development program Culture that supports a healthy work-life balance Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
