This position is located near BWI Airport in Maryland and requires up to 10% travel. US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance are required.

About the role

Northrop Grumman’s Manufacturing Operations Engineering organization is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer for the Advanced Micro-Electronics Cell (AMEC). The Manufacturing Project Engineer will own a product line or group of product lines, acting as the main point of contact for all manufacturing-engineering activities within the cell.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor product performance, quality, delivery, and cost metrics; highlight detractors and gather resources to resolve them.
  • Collaborate closely with process engineering peers and multiple functional groups (quality engineering, manufacturing supervision, production, operations, design engineering, program management).
  • Drive root-cause corrective-action efforts.
  • Identify continuous-improvement opportunities; create solutions and lobby for funding.
  • Review and handle product on the shop floor.
  • Lead communications outward from the shop floor through yield meetings, situation reports, problem-resolution charts, etc.
  • Gather and document non-recurring-cost efforts for initial product startup and support manufacturing-readiness reviews.
  • Coordinate between non-deliverable hardware requestors and manufacturing operations/engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related STEM field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing or leading projects and/or people.
  • Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Six Sigma concepts for process development.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Fluency in MS Office software applications.

Qualifications

Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer (Level 3)

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience (3 years with an MS degree).

Senior Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer (Level 4)

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience (6 years with an MS degree).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chip and Wire manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with J-STD and MIL-STD requirements, including MIL-STD-883 & MIL-PRF-38534, J-STD-001, IPC-610.
  • Experience with Configuration Management and Manufacturing Process Planning.

Pay

Primary level (Level 3) salary range: $108,800 – $163,200. Secondary level (Level 4) salary range: $135,800 – $203,600. Base salary offers consider scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differentials, discretionary bonuses, annual bonuses tied to individual and company performance, and long-term incentives for VP/Director roles.
