Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and execute test procedures and automated test scripts using spacecraft commands, telemetry, and electrical ground support equipment. The ideal candidate has system-level test experience working with spacecraft flight hardware and strong computer skills. Daily responsibilities will involve I&T test preparation leading to direct contact with satellite and space flight hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Develop I&T test procedures, specifications, and test limits
  • Execute I&T testing, monitor tests per specification, troubleshoot, and document all test activities
  • Understand both electrical circuits and software within the flight hardware and EGSE
  • Support EGSE and flight hardware test/troubleshooting efforts with little to no oversight
  • Travel and support different shifts when required
  • Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity
  • Assess whether test set-up and results are logical and valid
  • Establish and maintain infrequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters
  • Coordinate with ITEE team lead, electrical test conductors/technicians, and I&T managers to complete tasking
  • Participate, prepare, and present material in program review boards (ERBs, TRRs, FRBs, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
  • Experience with hardware or software testing and test scripting
  • Willingness to travel and support different shifts when required

Qualifications

Level 3

  • Approved STEM Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience, or
  • Approved STEM Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience, or
  • Approved STEM PhD with 1 year of professional experience

Level 4

  • Approved STEM Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of professional experience, or
  • Approved STEM Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience, or
  • Approved STEM PhD with 4 years of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with proliferated systems testing or production line testing/planning
  • Direct related experience in Integration and Test (I&T)
  • Electronics troubleshooting and nonconformance documentation and resolution workflow
  • Environmental test planning/preparations (Thermal Cycle/Thermal Vacuum chamber testing, EMI testing)
  • Programming or debugging experience with any of the following languages: STOL/JAS, Python
  • Programming or debugging experience with any of the following tools: Manufacturo, Odoo, InControl, Jira/Confluence, Git/Bitbucket
  • Experience in Aerospace or Defense industry (development or test)
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance

Pay

  • Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
  • Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

Base salary offers consider scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
